World Record Largest Online Poker Tournament

Posted under online poker & poker tournament & texas holdem

Full Tilt Poker will attempt to stamp its name on the Guinness Records and to do so; the site has announced that it will try to set a new record for the Largest Online Poker Tournament. Full Tilt’s Record Breaker tournament was unveiled as the finale to FIVE, a week of events and promotions created exclusively to celebrate the site’s 5th anniversary. The tournament will take place on July 19th at 15:05ET, players can buy in for this event for only $5 or 1000 Full Tilt Points and compete for a share of a $250,000 guaranteed with $250,000 added prize pool. Players can also get entries to this event by playing the online satellites available on the site and starting for as little as 30 cents or 50 Full Tilt Points.

Team Full Tilt pros and WSOP bracelet winners Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson and Phil Ivey have already confirmed they will take part in the event, offering players the chance to sit down at this historic tournament and play with some of the best high stakes and tournament pros in the world.

“By extending the limits of what is possible in online poker tournaments, Full Tilt Poker will allow players to compete for a big payout without the big buy-in,” said Team Full Tilt member Howard Lederer.

Putting together a poker tournament of this magnitude would be nearly impossible for any brick and mortar casino or poker room. The current record for the largest “live” poker tournament was set at the 2006 WSOP Main Event with 8,772 players. To break the current Guinness Record set by PokeStars.com in December, 2008, Full Tilt Poker will need to attract over 35.000 players. If successful, this tournament will establish Full Tilt Poker as World Record holder and cement its reputation as a world leader in online poker industry.

Online Poker Investigation Show will air on 60 Minutes

Posted under poker & poker laws & texas holdem

60 minutes special
Sunday night CBS will show their special program “How Online Gamblers Unmasked Cheaters”. This special was filmed after a four-month research into the online Texas Hold’em industry and specifically a con in relation to the online poker website Absolute Poker.

This poker page was inspected after a few of the poker players on the page alleged that a player was dishonestly winning a large amount of poker chips. Todd Witteles was a key player in this investigation, according to Witteles; he was losing huge amounts of money to the exact same Texas Hold’em poker player. Witteles declared that this gambler was raising against exceptionally good poker cards, most people would have believed he was simply handing over his money, but he was incredibly winning quite often.

Witteles was correct with his suppositions, following this it was uncovered that a poker player possibly working for the company was able to see everyone´s hole cards. At first look, Absolute Poker claimed that there were no problems with the room or the Texas Hold’em poker competitor. After many more players showed up with accusations, the poker page examined deeper into the situation and discovered wrongdoing.

In Jan. of 2008, the Kahnawake Gaming Commision revealed what the poker competitors and the Texas Hold’em poker site had supposed all along. The investigation proved that, there was a staff member who had broken through the poker room’s security and was playing poker unlawfully for around a month and a half. The research showed that the poker webpage had not benefited from the illicit activities at all, and was in no way, shape or form involved.

These issues are further testimony that there must be more control in regards to poker sites. The US government ought to authorize and regulate the online Texas Hold’em business to defend these honest customers. These rules would also regulate the entry to these websites by young children, which tends to be another problem issue lately.

A Few Tricks for reading your Texas Hold Em competitors

Posted under poker chips & poker tricks & texas holdem

poker
One of the most important aspects in poker tournaments is conning your opponents by making them believe your poker hand is better, when in reality it is most likely your hand is much worse than theirs. This is popularly known as “Poker face”, a straight-face to trick your competition into supposing an idea that might be false.

If you have a good hand it is most likely going to affect your nerves, could possibly make your hands shaky, and your pulse rise. These are pretty obvious signs that your poker buddies may pick up on very quickly, especially if they know you well. Keep in mind not to peer over at the pot if you have some good poker cards in your hands. This is an obvious gesture for your competitors that you are, in your head, counting the poker chips.

In the situation where you have a horrible poker hand, try not to keep yourself from glancing at your poker buddies, don’t lower your head, and don’t act reluctant about your bet. When you can prove to yourself that your set of cards is equal, or superior than your competition; you will possibly convince them of this as well. Remember to make this seem as normal as possible. Your gestures and actions may be saying one point, while what you are saying are giving them a whole different idea.

Another significant aspect of Texas Hold Em is to be able to read your opponents “poker tells”. A “tell” is a gesture or habit that may give away information about their hand. One critical point to remember is when your opponent gives the appearance that he has a great Texas Hold Em hand; he, most likely, has a very weak hand. From a different angle, if he behaves as though he has a weak hand, he in all probability has an excellent Texas Hold Em hand.

Playing Poker with the Pros-Fulltiltpoker.Com Attracts Professional Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament Players

Posted under poker & poker tournament & professional poker & texas holdem

Playing in online poker rooms and casinos such as Fulltiltpoker.com is a very popular activity and there are no end of players who are more than happy to sign up and play for high stakes on the Internet. With this focus on winning big against stiff competition on the web, very few players are likely to be excited about the concept of playing against professional Texas Hold’em poker tournament players such as Phil Ivey. While it might seem odd, websites such as Fulltiltpoker.com add professional poker players such as Phil Ivey and others to their ranks in order to generate more interest in the online poker rooms and casinos. When professional poker players receive the tremendous amount of exposure from events such as the World Series of poker in Las Vegas and other Texas Hold’em poker tournaments throughout the world, it is extremely beneficial to the online poker rooms and casinos that host these professional poker players throughout the year. For the online poker room and casinos, it is a tremendously successful method of bringing in new players and creating new action at the online poker tables.

But in the case of the online poker player, they may or may not be quite so ecstatic about playing against world-class professional Texas Hold’em poker tournament players who can literally wipe them out with in just a few short hands. Considering the amount of high limit and no limit Texas hold players, there is a strong market for these types of professional players and the challenge that they bring. But, in the case of many of the lower limit players, there is simply no reason to get excited over these types of celebrity players. Despite this fact, there is still good reason to host these types of professional players in an attempt to raise publicity and exposure for the online poker room and casino.

In the case of celebrities such as Michael Jordan, there is certainly no reason to think that a certain brand of underwear is better than another, simply because a famous basketball player wears them. Nonetheless, Michael Jordan will quickly tell you that Hanes are the best underwear that you can possibly by. While the question of Michael Jordan’s superior knowledge of underwear manufacturing might go unresolved, it is obvious that there are multitudes of fans that will simply rush out to buy this brand of underwear because Michael Jordan wears them.

This is the same concept at work with the Fulltiltpoker.com online poker room and casino and its utilization of world famous Texas Hold’em poker tournament players to bring a new players to online poker rooms and casinos.
