About six months ago, the twenty-three year old internet poker pro handed out a heads-up challenge for any poker player with the money, time and talent to accept it. So far, a few professional poker players have agreed to to play the “durrrr challenge”, including seven-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Ivey and David Benyamine, but, only Patrick Antonius has agreed to the poker challenge. Thus far, both poker pros have taken part in a total of 20,647 poker hands out of 50,000, with Dwan up by $726,546 total.

Online Poker Investigation Show will air on 60 Minutes

Posted under poker & poker laws & texas holdem

60 minutes special
Sunday night CBS will show their special program “How Online Gamblers Unmasked Cheaters”. This special was filmed after a four-month research into the online Texas Hold’em industry and specifically a con in relation to the online poker website Absolute Poker.

This poker page was inspected after a few of the poker players on the page alleged that a player was dishonestly winning a large amount of poker chips. Todd Witteles was a key player in this investigation, according to Witteles; he was losing huge amounts of money to the exact same Texas Hold’em poker player. Witteles declared that this gambler was raising against exceptionally good poker cards, most people would have believed he was simply handing over his money, but he was incredibly winning quite often.

Witteles was correct with his suppositions, following this it was uncovered that a poker player possibly working for the company was able to see everyone´s hole cards. At first look, Absolute Poker claimed that there were no problems with the room or the Texas Hold’em poker competitor. After many more players showed up with accusations, the poker page examined deeper into the situation and discovered wrongdoing.

In Jan. of 2008, the Kahnawake Gaming Commision revealed what the poker competitors and the Texas Hold’em poker site had supposed all along. The investigation proved that, there was a staff member who had broken through the poker room’s security and was playing poker unlawfully for around a month and a half. The research showed that the poker webpage had not benefited from the illicit activities at all, and was in no way, shape or form involved.

These issues are further testimony that there must be more control in regards to poker sites. The US government ought to authorize and regulate the online Texas Hold’em business to defend these honest customers. These rules would also regulate the entry to these websites by young children, which tends to be another problem issue lately.

Answers To the Top 3 Poker Questions

Posted under learning poker & poker & poker tips

Are there more chances to win if I play a tight poker game or loose?

You will undoubtedly hear both sides of this argument from your fellow poker players or even the so-called poker experts. Let’s have a look first at the tight players. Everybody including yourself will find it difficult winning, if the whole poker table is playing tight. What will happen if you have a poker table full of tight poker players is the poker players will wind up swapping the smaller pots back and forth to each other. All the while the casino hotel is raking in tons of your hard-earned cash, and that of your competitors. So now you may say, is it better to play loose? Well, in this circumstance the better poker players are going to lose fewer hands, but at the end of it all nobody is going to come out on top.

How can I better my poker playing in the long run?

The answer to this question is as simple as a piece of paper and a pen. A great tactic to learn a lot about your playing method and tactic, is to keep track of your poker playing. You could write down this information during the poker game, and then transfer it to a database on your home computer. This can also help you learn about your competitor’s playing style, and what is the best tactic to defeat them.

Is it a good idea to use the same tactics for every poker game?

If you think that being predictable is a winning strategy for playing poker, then you should consider altering your Texas holdem’ tactic. The poker experts agree that varying your poker playing approach is the greatest way to confuse and bewilder your poker competitors. You should test a handful of strategies, discover the best ones for each situation and alter them for each poker tournament.

The science of bluffing

Posted under poker & poker bluff & poker tips & poker tricks

According to the 2006 World Series of Poker winner, Jamie Gold, he wants to be celebrated as the finest bluffer in the world. But if his last tournament is any clue, his wish may not be granted any time soon.

The setting is the 2007 Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic held at the Vegas Bellagio in 2007. Featuring $50 - $100 blinds and a $15,000 buy-in, Darrell Dicken is just barely holding on. The seat 4 player has just raised his bet to $300, a tiny increase with only one player biting the line. “I put him as being weak,” Jamie said, “I was thinking about raising, but instead I just called with a 10-3 of hearts to see what would happen.”

Jamie thought that Brad Booth would make some kind of move, which he did. He re-raised to $1600 from the big blind. Gold was thinking that Booth had a reasonable hand, but he was in a good position to make a move considering the amount of dead money in the pot. Dicken ended up folding, and the unknown in Seat 4 called Booth’s raise.

At this point there was more than $4000 in the pot, so Jamie raised the wager by $4000. His thought was, only if someone else had aces or kings there would be no chance they would make that call. Jamie’s plan was to make a sizeable move on the flop, as long as no ace came up. The second part of his plan was to get Booth to fold, which he did. Booth folded with pocket queens.

On the flop there was an ace of ace-6-5, two clubs. The player in seat 4 checked and Jamie bet $2000. Jamie’s primary thought was to make him think that he had clubs. Seat 4 laid down a $10,000 chip, but didn’t say anything thus converting his raise into a call. Jamie’s thought was that seat 4 in all likelihood had an ace, but you have to protect it in case he hits his set on the upcoming card.

A 2 of hearts showed up on the turn, and Jamie folded to what he thought was a top pair kicker. Seat 4 displayed a king-jack off suit. Seat 4 beat Gold by bluffing with a superior hand, he made a terrific play and took the bluff to the end of the poker tournament.

New Game Places Normal People Alongside The World’s Greatest Poker Players

Posted under las vegas poker & poker & poker casinos

Poker was a game available only in hotels in Vegas or from video poker machines, but now it is more widespread than ever in Vegas thanks to the TV and the internet.

The popular Venetian Hotel, is now betting on this popularity with its new audience-participation show called “The Real Deal!” in its showroom located in the Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino, starting in October.

Their new show will combine comedy and game show elements to entertain its live audience. The audience will also be able to join in the well loved game of Texas Holdem’ alongside the world’s best poker players. Many prizes are available for the audience including a chance to win 1$ million.

In “The Real Deal!” the audience will play with players like Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth and Daniel Negreanu. Around 10 professional players have already signed up for the game show. The audience will be able to play along with the 90 minute game thanks to handheld, wireless, touch screen devices located on each seat.

“People who take a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada want to play poker games,” Negreanu says, “but obviously they can’t play in a top poker tournament with the likes of Doyle or Phil Hellmuth. But, in this show, they actually can.” At the start of the show, six audience members will be chosen to sit at the poker table on stage with two professional players. Each audience member is then involved in the action by being dealt a unique set of poker cards on their devices. Everyone in the showroom is then involved in the action with big-screen monitors located on stage.

Creators of the show say that you don’t have to be a pro poker player to take part in the poker tv show. There are other ways to boost your point total, that doesn’t involve the game of poker necessarily. Betting on the suit of the next poker card or trying to guess which state a particular audience member is from, are just some of the ways to come out a poker champion in this game.

The shows producers are also placing bets on the personalities of the pro poker players to create some great moments. Poker players like Scotty Nguyen, the flamboyant five-time winner of the World Series of Poker, definitely definitely knows how to entertain the audience and should provide some memorable moments in this TV poker game show .
