Can I Actually Make Money Playing Texas Hold’em?

Imagine if you were to have a conversation with any typical person off the street about Texas Hold’em, they in all probability wouldn’t deem Texas Hold’em to be a game of strategy, preparation, or study. Possibly when you talk about online poker with them, they would perhaps picture some acquaintances lounging around their kitchen table having conversations and smoking cigars. They also may consider Texas Hold’em poker to be a game of pure luck as opposed to talent, closer to a game of craps rather than a game of skill, for example.

So the big question you might be asking yourself is: “Can I become rich playing poker?”. Believe it or not, you can actually make money this way. Several people not only win money by playing Texas Hold’em poker, but also become millionaires by competing in Texas Hold’em tournaments. The most important thing you shouldn’t forget about Texas Hold’em is that while you can play in a Sin City casino, alongside blackjack tables and slot machines; in Texas Hold’em you are not working against the house but against other Texas Hold’em poker players. Hence, in truth, you are risking your hard cash against other players in a competition of skill rather than a game of fate.

You might be thinking to yourself: “Isn’t the game of poker about chance as well?” Certainly in Texas Hold’em, no one really knows which cards will be dealt out. That doesn’t necessarily signify that one can’t play poker games with a certain quantity of pre-game know-how. One thing that is important to remember in Texas Hold’em poker is that numbers will be your best friend. Statistics plays a very significant part in the game of poker. Not to mention, that even if you get somewhat fortunate every once in while the numbers always have a way of bringing you back down to earth.
